I don’t need rain today.
I need the warmth of the sun.
I need to know everything was not done in vain.
That every decision was not a mistake and done out of haste.
I need to know I did the best I could. (That anyone could do.)
And that the constant bailing of water…worked.
I don’t need rain today.
I don’t need to hear the rhythmic drops of water hit the ground.
I need the quiet of light..within..throughout…and all around.
I need the certainty of a hidden sun.
I need all the things I did without.
I need all the things I left behind.
I do not need rain today.
I do not need another flash flood.
I need a desert with clear views for miles and notable contrasts against the horizon.
I need to know I did better than just survive.
I need dry bones and rock.
I really…truly….don’t need rain today.
