You do not have to offer an olive branch to your unapologetic abuser. No one should ever suggest you should either. If you want to support someone who has been abused or mistreated by someone…just listen to them. Trust they feel deeply hurt and are in no way responsible for the abuse or to reconnect or somehow petty for not reconnecting with the person who abused them.
I’ve been on both sides of this and I was wrong when I tried convincing someone they should offer an olive branch. That’s not their responsibility and it doesn’t work like that and shouldn’t.
